This happens almost every time I put food in the dish. Dexter is the first to get there, but Elliot has a secret weapon - a plan! A passive-aggressive one. Dexter parks himself at the bowl and Elliot lays down across his tail to encourage him to finish up quickly. And it works - every time. He eats a little, looks back at her, eats a little, looks back at her and finally he gives up and leaves. She moves in, eats as long as she likes, and then leaves him the leftovers. You'd think he'd learn that maneuver himself eventually.
